Operation Santa provides Christmas presents and warm clothing each Christmas for needy families in the community of Rochester. The entire community comes together to donate presents, "adopt" local families, set up the Operation Santa shop, wrap the presents, and make sure local families get what they need for their children. This is a huge effort that requires many, many volunteers each year.
Operation Santa serves over 600 low-income children. Each child received clothes and a new toy. Parents can choose to "shop" for their child or be adopted by local businesses or families. There is also a Christmas party with games, crafts, and Santa for Rochester area children. Information is sent home from local schools to families of Rochester School District students in early November.
If you would like to volunteer to help with Operation Santa in any way, call Kellie McNelly at ROOF, 360-273-6375. We welcome all helpers.
